Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities "almost certainly" coming, leaked government documents show

A Telegram account supposedly "affiliated with Iran," according to Axios, leaked two U.S. intelligence documents this week detailing Israel's plans for an impending attack on Iran. U.S. officials say they are "extremely concerned" about what the media is describing as "a potentially major security breach" involving the documents, which were deemed by The Associated Press (AP) and independent investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein as authentic, though an official government investigation into their authenticity is still underway. "We have not observed indications that Israel intends to use a nuclear weapon," reads the concluding line from one of the documents. It all started when Israel assassinated top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, which prompted Iran to respond by launching a barrage of missile strikes at Israeli military targets. Israel then promised to respond back, which has not yet happened as the world waits to see what Israel's counter-counterattack will entail. (Related: Iran and the rest of the Resistance Axis has promised to retaliate against Israel for assassinating top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.)

U.S. intelligence clandestinely monitors Israeli military operations

The documents, assuming they really are authentic, prove that U.S. intelligence is deeply involved in what Israel is doing militarily. We now know that Washington keeps "a close and clandestine eye," to quote one media source, on Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and their actions in the Middle East. Some media outlets like CNN did not post the documents in full, citing an unnamed U.S. official who said their public release is "deeply concerning" since they were only supposed to be seen by the U.S. and its "Five Eyes" allies, which include Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. By all appearances, Israel is planning to target Iran's nuclear facilities, which could result in a counter-counter-counterattack by Iran against Israel's nuclear facilities. Once that happens, the Israel-versus-the-Middle-East mega-war, replete with the use of nuclear weapons, could ensue. Officially speaking, Israel has no known nuclear weapons program or nuclear arsenal. However, this is the official story as both Israel and the U.S. government made a pact never to acknowledge or confirm the existence of either, though one of the documents specifically mentions Israel's ability to deploy a nuclear weapon. Klippenstein, who posted images of the leaked documents in full, put the media on blast for refusing to do the same. "As with the J.D. Vance Dossier, which the entire media knew about but refused to publish, it appears the media has once again lost its nerve – and its sense of what's news," Klippenstein wrote, adding that they provide "insight of enormous public interest as we stand at the precipice of a broader conflict" as well as contain "information that directly bears upon U.S. obligations and actions." "It is for that reason that I've decided to publish the basic documents," he further said. In the comments, someone wrote that Israel has been waiting "ever since the Iranian revolution" to conduct a major strike on Iran. "This was tried in 1967," added another. "It utterly failed. A more peaceful approach would be for the U.S. to withdraw all support for Israel's war machine." "Actually, the story that Israel was attacked first in 1967 was a lie and an excuse for them to attack their neighbors and steal additional territory," responded someone else. "That fact is well-known among those who are truly well-informed by non-U.S. / Zionist propaganda." The latest Middle East news can be found at WWIII.news.
