Whistleblower: Lack of Congressional oversight allowed CIA to RUN AMOK

The lack of congressional oversight over the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has caused it to run amok, according to whistleblower Pedro Israel Orta. He shared this during an appearance on the "Health Ranger Report" hosted by the Health Ranger Mike Adams. Orta, a former CIA operations officer and analyst, noted that America is dealing with the same problems from the 1950s and 1960s that were exposed by the Church Committee (formally the Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities) in the 1970s. The whistleblower noted that the committee headed by the late former Sen. Frank Church (D-ID) managed to correct these problems. The committee's efforts also led to the formation of its more robust successors – the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence – to do oversight. But according to the Health Ranger, the CIA lacks oversight and accountability as it can always claim that something is a "national security threat." The founder of Natural News and Brighteon.com also pointed to the carte blanche attitude pervasive inside the intelligence bureau. "The reality is that that congressional oversight is extremely deficient and lacking, so the CIA knows that it can get away with certain violations – and they do so," said Adams. "There have been instances of the CIA breaking laws, and when Congress comes looking for accountability, the CIA basically flips [its] middle finger saying … 'F**k you, we're not going to give you the information.'" He added that the CIA can't tell Congress all the "secret things" it is doing as lawmakers aren't qualified to understand it. Moreover, the representatives aren't trustworthy, with some of them possibly leaking these for campaign purposes. Such actions, Adams argued, would compromise and endanger the lives of CIA operatives around the world.

Orta: The CIA can work its way around restrictions

"If there were checks and balances, this wouldn't be happening," the Health Ranger continued. "But it seems like the CIA does whatever it wants, whether it's lawful or not." Orta agreed, noting how the CIA can work its way around restrictions by creative means. He added that the CIA can work domestically on counterintelligence or counter-terrorism threat cases in the U.S., as long as it is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). (Related: CIA is involved in domestic censorship collusion with Big Tech, bombshell report reveals.) "So, the reality is the FBI and the CIA work hand-in-hand domestically. That is one way the CIA can work inside the U.S.," the whistleblower remarked. Adams commented that the FBI could get involved with a domestic terrorist investigation along with the CIA to arrest so-called "terrorists" and take them to a "black site" or secret detention center. These alleged terrorists would then be subjected to torture, in a bid to obtain "information." Orta stated there is nothing that can stop it if people are declared terrorism subjects or threats to the United States. He mentioned there are cases during the War on Terror where subjects were put on no-fly list. In some cases, people were kidnapped and extradited back to the country – or in others kidnapped, taken to a black site and tortured. Adams said it is disturbing that America attempts to take a righteous moral posture to the rest of the world by lecturing other world leaders or countries that the U.S. is the standard of human rights, when they are violating the rights of others.
