Homeland Security offering biometric data of American citizens to potential foreign partners

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reportedly offered access to the department's vast biometric databanks to any foreign state that would agree to reciprocate. According to a July 22 Statewatch report, DHS is "sales pitching" the enhanced border security agreements to potential foreign partners. As per the document titled, "DHS International Biometric Information Sharing (IBIS) Program," the program provides "a scalable, reliable and rapid bilateral biometric and biographic information sharing capability to support border security and immigration vetting." Biometric technologies generally refer to the use of technology to identify a person based on some aspect of their biology. Fingerprint recognition is one of the first and original biometric technologies that have been grouped loosely under digital forensics. The DHS stated that these physical (such as a fingerprint or iris pattern) or behavioral traits (such as voice patterns) are used for the automated recognition of individuals. Human rights and civil liberties advocates raised concerns about the collection of people's biometric information by the DHS and possibly sharing these with foreign governments and corporations. This is a clear violation of privacy, critics say. John Whitehead, a lawyer and author, told news outlet the Defender that it is not just the surveillance and the buying and selling of your data that is worrisome. "The ramifications of a government – any government – having this much unregulated, unaccountable power to target, track, round up and detain its citizens is beyond chilling," Whitehead pointed out. He also commented that the soaring use of biometric technologies is about money and profits. "We have been reduced to data bits and economic units to be bought, bartered and sold to the highest bidder by the government and corporate America." "This creepy new era of government/corporate spying, in which we are being listened to, watched, tracked, followed, mapped, bought, sold and targeted, makes the NSA's [National Security Agency] surveillance appear almost antiquated in comparison," Whitehead added. As a co-writer for a July Rutherford Institute article, he said that we're being surveilled right down to our genes. "In an age of overcriminalization, round-the-clock surveillance, and a police state eager to flex its muscles in a show of power, we are all guilty of some transgression or other," the article read. In the first quarter of 2022, only seven states have introduced biometric laws (California, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri and New York) and all are generally based on Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act. At the moment, only Illinois, Texas and Washington have enacted biometric laws, and only the Illinois law provides individuals with a private right of action.

Humans can now be hacked and controlled

Professor Yuval Noah Harari, best-selling author and top adviser to World Economic Forum (WEF) founder Klaus Schwab, claimed back in June that human beings can now be hacked and controlled. "Humans are now hackable animals. You know the whole idea that humans have this soul or spirit and they have free will. So, whatever I choose whether in the election, or whether in the supermarket, this is my free will. That's over – free will," he said at a speaking engagement. (Related: World Economic Forum believes people are "useless eaters," and views their "brains and bodies" as product that can be hacked, controlled and discarded.) "We know that, for years, corporations and governments have been developing the abilities, the technological tools, to monitor what we do. And this gives them a lot of insight into our political views, our preferences, even our personalities." Harari pointed out that this [Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic era] was the moment when surveillance started going under the skin. "The most important data is not what you read and who you meet and what you buy. It is what is happening inside your body," the self-proclaimed New World Order "prophet" pointed out. The infotech revolution and the revolution in the biological sciences are about to merge. There is going to be technology that converts biological data into digital data that can be analyzed by computers. And having the ability to really monitor people under the skin "is the biggest game-changer of all," Harari added He also wrote in an Al Jazeera column that the implication is extreme as it can go all the way to the establishment of new totalitarian regimes, which could be worse than anything we have seen before. "It can also result in huge revolutions in the job market, in the economy, in personal relations," Harari warned.
