Canada Imposes Retaliatory Tariffs on U.S. Goods After Trump Trade Action

The Canadian government announced Tuesday, Aug. 25, it will impose retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on around 700 American products. The new levies escalate a trade war with the U.S. that has intensified following the collapse of bilateral trade negotiations. The measures, detailed in a statement on the Canadian Department of Finance's (DFC) website, are scheduled to take effect on Sept. 8, according to officials.
